What an Injustice!

I witnessed yesterday another horrific miscarriage of justice and abuse of judicial discretion in Judge James' courtroom. I went to see an attorney in action, in the same courtroom that Quincy was in. There were two young men, who had accepted a plea (that was ridiculous) for a robbery charge of a Circle K. The information I was able to gather was that they robbed (more like stole) a Circle K convenience store of a pack of cigarettes. No weapons were involved, nobody was injured or hurt. Judge Robert James agreed with the Douglas County District Attorney's Office and sentenced these 2 young, BLACK, men (who couldn't have been over 25 years old) under the First Offenders Act. First Offenders is supposed to provide an alternative to prison time for people who have never been in trouble before. Well - this time that was not the case. They were sentenced to 20 years, to serve 8 in prison, and the remaining 12 on probation. For a pack of cigarettes. This is sick and it is destroying our black men and families by the droves. Something has to be done about this. Who is ready??? This same judge sentenced Quincy and from my research he is sentencing all black men the same way. He is abusing his discretion in sentencing and it must stop.....NOW!
